We are pleased to bring you the screening of the documentary ‘Fire of Love’ by filmmaker Sara Dosa, an extraordinary love story of intrepid French scientists Katia and Maurice Krafft, who dedicated their lives to understanding their greatest passion: volcanoes. The film inspired the text Can Volcanoes Love? written by Fernando Chaves for the creative non-fiction column of Volume 8: Desire of our digital magazine. This event is in collaboration with the programme Preámbulo and will take place on Saturday 23 March at 7pm in the Sala Gómez Miralles at the Centro de Cine in San José, Costa Rica. It will be an opportunity to get to know each other, and to admire this beautiful documentary on the big screen. Admission is free and space is limited.
Katia and Maurice Krafft loved two things — each other and volcanoes. For two decades, the daring French volcanologist couple roamed the planet, chasing eruptions and documenting their discoveries. Ultimately, they left a legacy that forever enriched our knowledge of the natural world. Director Sara Dosa and the filmmaking team fashion a lyrical celebration of the intrepid scientists’ spirit of adventure, drawing from the Kraffts’ spectacular archive. FIRE OF LOVE tells a story of primordial creation and destruction, following two bold explorers as they venture into the unknown, all for the sake of love.
At Wimblu we had the opportunity to talk to Fernando Chaves and the director of this film, Sara Dosa. You can watch this conversation on this link.
